(via 52 Kitchen Adventures)
I used to have these shakes often without the cocoa powder and ice cubes before I started to become allergic to avocados. Sometimes I would just eat a bowl of mashed up avocados in milk with a little sugar.. but only if Mom prepared it for me.
Did you know that ..an avocado contains more potassium than a banana? Approximately 60% more per ounce! Avocados provide nearly 20 essential nutrients and are especially high in fiber, protein, vitamin B6 and vitamin E. Although they are fatty, most of it is monounsaturated fats which help lower blood cholesterol. [Check the nutritional facts]

Chef’n StemGem Strawberry Stem Remover
I had no idea people removed the hulls of strawberries to eat them. Usually I would just hold on to the leaves and bite off as much berry as I could. There are however 33 5-star reviews out of 37 total on Amazon, so this must be a useful item!
A tool like this certainly would have come in handy while I was preparing a batch of strawberry margarita Jell-O shots for tomorrow (which by the way did not work out too well). Definitely be ware if you happen to open up a hole at the bottom of the strawberry. It will leak out all the good stuff before the Jell-O has a chance to settle.

I modified this recipe slightly for clarity and also cut out the vegan part since I don’t play that game. Enjoy!
Vibrant Orange Juice Frosty Recipe
serves two – or one extra tall glass
The secret to this smoothie/frosty is really the fresh squeezed OJ. Yes, you could make this smoothie with regular orange juice, but it won’t have that vibrant bite of citrus that comes with fresh squeezed.
- 4 Valencia oranges, squeezed
- 1 small banana, ripe
- 1/3 cup frozen peaches
- 1/2 cup frozen pineapple
- 1/3 cup ice
Blend. Pour. Garnish with a citrus twist and serve!

How to Make Banana Ice Cream With One Ingredient

Ingredients
- 1 banana
Instructions
- Peel your bananas first.
- Cut them into small pieces.
- Freeze for just 1-2 hours on a plate.
- Blend, blend, blend - scraping down the bowl when they stick.
- Enjoy the magic moment when they turn into ice cream!
It turns out that frozen bananas are good for more than just dipping in chocolate. If you freeze a banana until solid, then whiz it up in a blender or food processor, it gets creamy and a little gooey, just like good custard ice cream.

This sounds great! ..Except for the fact that I’m allergic to bananas and do not like them.
Project Meyer Lemon Update: 10 months and Counting

It has been 10 months since I received my two meyer lemon trees from California. Since then the trees have undergone growth of tiny blossoms to six giant lemons (three per tree). A meager harvest from what could have been, but at least the plants are still alive!
As for the lemons I have now, I’ve used two so far; one in cooking and the other to make a strawberry margarita. It is very satisfying to be able to walk over to the tiny trees and grab a fresh lemon that’s perfect in ripeness. I wish I had many more trees of different fruits so that I would rarely have to take a trip to the grocery store for minor details. I’ve been waiting on Project: Grow an Avocado Tree, but the lack of warmth and sun in the winter has severely stunted the seeds’ growth.

Don’t mind the yellow in the leaves. The tree was having an off day here.

Still waiting to use one of the bigger lemons. Supposedly they’ll stay ripe on the tree for three months.

After breaking off one lemon, this tree is eager to grow its next batch of lemons. Hopefully more than three this time.
