DNA Portraits [DNA11]

DNA11 is a company (founded in 2005) that takes your DNA and turns it into art. All you do is take the kit they send you after ordering online, use the included cotton swab to gather cheek cells from the side of your mouth, rub it on the provided collection card and send it back. The DNA gets extracted, DNA11 takes a digital picture of it, and it gets printed onto a high-quality, acid-free, polyester-cotton canvas that you can hang anywhere for a great conversation piece. They also can transform your fingerprint/lips into a painting if you choose to go that route.

The entire process takes about 5 weeks from the time you ship them your DNA sample, so you may want to plan ahead (sorry, you missed Christmas!). If you’re not 100% satisfied, they will refund you the entire cost or offer you a reprint at no extra charge.

The horizontal bars and vertical highlights in these paintings (or printings, rather) remind me of a Japanese arcade game I used to play back in the day called Beatmania IIDX. Ah.. What a mind-numbing time in my life that was.
