Cloud Gate, commonly referred to as “The Bean”, is a structure comprised of 169 3/8” thick stainless steel panels polished to a mirror-like finish. Its total weight: 110 tons.

Completed in 2005, the construction piece is expected to survive for 1,000 years. It is wiped down twice a day by hand with Windex and cleaned twice a year with 40 gallons of Tide liquid detergent.
